BabaFest
A Celebration of Winnipeg’s Ukrainian grandmas
Spring 2020
Ukrainians know when they go to buy gifts for their grandma it is next to impossible to find the perfect “baba” present. Everything is for a grandmother or possibly even a nana. There are very few products that recognize the special place a baba has within her Ukrainian family.
With Winnipeg’s large Ukrainian community, it’s time to celebrate babas and show appreciation for everything they bring to our lives.
#NationalBabaDay

Baba Lunch Buffet
Ukrainian families love food and there’s nothing more traditional than a perogy lunch. Catered by a local company, guests will sit down to some perogies, kubasa and other delicious Ukrainian foods.
Baba Boutique
Products geared specifically for babas and their families: T-shirts, jewelry, greeting cards. Nothing says “grandma” on it. It’s all baba, all the time.
Baba Bling & Beauty
Babas love homemade crafts. The bling station is the place for grandkids (and great-grandkids) to create some special jewelry for their beloved baba. Maybe Baba wants to roll up her sleeves and make something with the kids. The more the merrier!
Baba Bingo
Generations of Ukrainians have loved playing bingo and that tradition is being handed down from babas. Enjoy some fun games of bingo with the family and win great prizes if your numbers are called. (Might even be a good chance to learn the numbers in Ukrainian!)
Baba Cabaret
After lunch, guests will be entertained by a group of local dancers and singers. Watch the talented troop of dancers and be enchanted by the elegant songs of Ukraine during this spectacular showcase of culture.
